DOLBADARN CASTLE & DINORWIG
LLANBERIS, SNOWDONIA

Sat 4th May 2019

From 3:00PM to 9:00PM

We meet at Padarn Country Park.

Our first location will be the 13th Century Dolbadarn Castle – a surprisingly well preserved ruin in an extremely scenic location. It’s perfect for photography in any light. We’ll spend about 90 minutes here.

There are toilets and refreshments available at the nearby Snowdon Mountain Railway terminus, for a quick pit-stop. However, I can’t be sure of the opening times so you’ll be better bringing food and drink with you.

Then we’ll head to the Dinorwig Quarry workings from the lower entrance close to the restricted hydro-electric premises.

There is quite a steep climb within the quarry, but it’s not too long and of course you can take your time, with many photo opportunities along the path.

We’ll go as far up as the famous “Anglesey Barracks”, but I’ll be showing you a few hidden spots where you can shoot the industrial heritage as well as the fine views up and down the valley.

Many peaks are visible and if there is a good sunset we’ll be well-placed to take advantage of direct light across the Llyn Padarn and projected light on The Pass of Llanberis.
