LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATION GUIDES:
Menai Strait, Dwyran, Anglesey
SUMMARY:
Best at / for: mid-winter sunrise, mid-summer sunset projected light.
Best avoided: flat light.
Parking: free parking right alongside.
Access: no walking required – suitable for disabled.
Notes: easy access, but it’s all about long range images.
Details:
This quiet little location offers something a little different to the usual coastal areas of Anglesey. Getting there is very easy and you can park waterside with very little walking necessary.
The real attraction here is view across to Caernarfon Castle and the backdrop of the Snowdonia mountains. In particular, Moel Eilio, Yr Aran and Mynydd Mawr. In the right light and weather conditions, this can make for an epic shot across the water to the mainland.
Whilst walking any distance is unnecessary here, if you do elect to follow the course of the Anglesey Coastal Path in either direction, there are some landscape photography compositions and scenery which can make for an interesting trip out. This is a very quiet location and you unlikely to encounter anyone else here except the odd bass fisherman.
