Details:

Aber Falls drains much of the northern slopes of the Carneddau, and is situated south of the village Abergwyngregyn. There is easy access from the A55 North Wales Expressway. However, the ease of access to this location does encourage significant visitor footfall. So a strong recommendation to landscape photographers is to get there at first light, because at all times of the year this is when you are usually have the place to yourself for an hour or so. If you leave it any later than this it will be extremely difficult to get any images of the main waterfall without visitors in your short and the complexity of the subject make it next to impossible to consider cloning them out.

The valley which leads down to the falls at its south-eastern end, opens of course to the north-west which means that due to its steep sided nature even when the light is good the falls are rarely illuminated. Whilst this does mean that it is easier to control the highlights it also means that the time of year which you visit makes little difference in terms of lighting and you are best to come during periods of heavy rainfall so that at least you have plenty of water to work with.

The main falls have a drop of around 120 feet. And for the landscape photographer there are also many subjects in the woodland and river.
