Cefn Du, Waunfawr, Eryri
SUMMARY:
Best at / for: great location at any time of the day all year round.
Best avoided: heavy rain & wind as there’s no shelter at all.
Parking: hike from Llanberis or park at Cefn Du via Waunfawr.
Access: easy with no technical problems.
Notes: little foreground except when heather in bloom.
Details:
Cefn Du lies west of Llanberis and is gently sloping hill north west of Snowdon.
The views from the top are very good, from Snowdon round to the sea, and take in mountains, lakes, and slate quarries.
The walking distance to the top is around 1/2 a mile from the parking area at Bwlch y Groes, above Waunfawr.
There are alternative hiking routes from lower donw starting in Llanberis.
The climb is continuous and steady, clear of rocks and requiring no technical skill. A reasonable level of fitness is needed.
