LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATION GUIDES:
Llyn Cwellyn, Rhyd Ddu, Eryri
SUMMARY:
Best at / for: sunset for projected light on Snowdon.
Best avoided: during public holidays.
Parking: pay and display car park.
Access: can offer long, flat walks.
Notes: this is more about the surroundings than the lake itself.
Details:
This lake is on the western slopes of Yr Wyddfa, with a good line of sight to the summit.
Throughout the year, the lake offers a wide variety of subjects and compositions, including narrow gauge steam trains running on the Welsh Highland Railway parallel to the lake.
There is a car park at the side of the lake at the start of the Ranger Path. Here you will find a woodland board-walk looping through lake side woodland and offering a variety of view-points.
There is also a woodland footpath from the southern end of the lake from the Rhyd Ddu road along the south-western bank of the lake.
