LANDSCAPE & COMMISSIONED PHOTOGRAPHY

LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATION GUIDES:

Craig Cwm Silyn, Nantlle, Gwynedd

Summary:

Best at / for: sunrise over Snowdon / sunset over Anglesey.

Best avoided: in poor visibility, or when this is likely.

Parking: free, but needs care and consideration.

Access: around 2 hours uphill walking required.

Notes: good hiking / wild camping opportunities nearby.

Details:

Craig Cwm Silyn is at  the lower end of the Nantlle ridge.

There are panoramic views all round, mountains, lakes and sea.

Access is not easy, for the reasonably fit and able only, but is well worth the effort.

Route finding can be difficult in poor visibility, and needs good map and compass skills.

The best approach is from around Nantlle or Nebo. Cars can be parked with care and consideration in places in the lanes. There are one or two small off-road parking areas, but these get busy quickly at popular times.

The walk up to the ridge will take around 2 hours and involves a climb of about 1600 feet.
